DFI Week 1

Today was the first day out of nine sessions for the Digital Fluency Intensive (DFI) Term 3, 2020.

Throughout the day, we covered a variety of learning including:
- Add ons and Google Extensions
- Google Groups vs Contacts
- Formatting Google Docs (to make it pretty!!)

The following is my favourite take-aways from today's session

We played around with Google Docs and this is the 'poster' I've created to fit into my technology for the term. Click on the link at the bottom to go to the pdf to access the links to take you to the videos!

  1. Kia ora Cara,
Thanks for sharing! Some of those add on's are new to me. I look forward to giving them a go :)
Looking at your poster, I spent hours playing marbles and knuckle bones at school. I wonder what the most popular will be in your class... haha!
Enjoy the rest of the week,

Those four extensions are the ones I picked up on too and wanted to go a bit further with. Love the idea of almost 'locking down' a rangatahi to a doc so they dont get distracted and find their way down a loooong rabbit hole with docutube! As someone who does exactly that ... and we use mindmapping so often I'm sure mindmeister has a place in our courses in Art too.

I tried soooo hard to get my juniors to have a go with voice typing and the best i got was a girl writing how cool she was and that she was the teacher's favourite but not much else! hahaha i laughed along with her! But we all made a google doc poster to begin the research off in year 9 art so i feel like I achieved something meaningful for their blog posts coming up.

I fully enjoyed the day as I did wonder if it was a mistake sending me along and if someone else would have been better off doing it. Im so pleased I went. Look forward to seeing you next time, Kelsey tells me you are pretty awesome already with your knowledge base!
